The Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Regents, Covenant University has urged the departing students of Covenant University to maximize their holiday period by engaging in profitable activities that will build their capacity and keep them from distractions.
In his inspiring message, titled, “Life is a Race of Individuality,” he stressed the importance of personal focus, reminding students that while they may have classmates in school, their individual journeys are unique. “Do not get lost in the crowd,” he stated. “Only serious-minded youths emerge as responsible citizens. You are in your planting season, and the seeds you sow today will determine what you reap tomorrow.”
He emphasized that life is a race, and only the committed emerge victorious. While encouraging students to live purpose-driven lives, he advised them to discover their calling early and invest their time wisely. “Without a defined goal, a man becomes a scapegoat,” he warned, stressing that there are no shortcuts to success.
The Chancellor also addressed the significance of having clear direction in life, stating, “When you don’t know where you are going, every other place will seem like it. Every race has a starting point; you don’t climb a tree from the top you start from the bottom. Without a bearing, life becomes a burden.”
He concluded his message with a call for self-discipline and resilience, urging students to stay committed to their aspirations. His message concluded with a heartfelt prayer for students, faculty, and staff, thanking God for a successful semester and seeking divine guidance for the months ahead. As students depart for the break, the Covenant University leadership remains steadfast in its commitment to raising a generation of visionary leaders, ensuring that they return empowered to excel in all facets of life.
Others at the event include the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lanre Amodu; the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Igban, and other members of the University Management.
