In a recent town and gown interaction seminar hosted by the Department of Sociology, Mrs. Joan Anuoluwa Ologundudu, a renowned behavioral scientist and certified leadership and marriage coach, emphasized the pivotal role of sociologists as ‘light bearers’ in today's troubled world.

Addressing a gathering at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies' (CEDS) Multipurpose Hall, Mrs. Ologundudu drew parallels between sociologists and doctors, highlighting their shared dedication to improving humanity and social institutions.

During her presentation, she delved into the redefinition of socialization factors, shedding light on significant disruptions across various spheres such as families, politics, institutions, leadership, career paths, and technology.

As the founder and director of Lifesaver Intervention Initiatives, Lagos, Mrs. Ologundudu underscored the importance of sociologists as critical thinkers. She emphasized the necessity of continuously engaging with relevant materials amidst knowledge saturation, conducting meaningful research, seeking diverse perspectives, and fostering a network conducive to growth.

The head, Department of Sociology, Dr. Ajibade Jegede, eulogized the Guest Speaker, who was a former student of the department. He was elated that a young graduate of the department like Mrs Ologundudu would be giving back to the department in such a little time after graduation

He therefore charged the students to do their very best by focusing on their studies and come out with good grades so that they too would become shining lights to their alma mater and the entire society at large.

The discourse resonated deeply with attendees, inspiring a renewed commitment among sociologists to leverage their expertise for the betterment of society in an era fraught with challenges.
