Covenant University Graduates Shine as McKinsey Hosts Young Leaders Programme Information Session

Covenant University’s Centre for Research, Innovation, and Discovery (CUCRID) Auditorium was abuzz with excitement as it hosted McKinsey & Company’s Young Leaders Programme information session. The event showcased some of Covenant University’s distinguished graduates who have made significant strides at the prestigious consulting firm.

The McKinsey team, including notable Covenant University alumni, comprising Setemi Jagun, an Engineering graduate and Young Leaders Programme Fellow; Ejiro Maroh, an Engineering graduate, Harvard Business School MBA candidate, and Associate at McKinsey Lagos; Hadizat Gbadamosi, an Engineering graduate, who is also an Oxford Business School MBA graduate, and Associate at McKinsey Lagos; Roselyn Affah-John, Professional Development Coordinator at McKinsey Lagos; and Olusegun Osoneye, Senior Recruiter at McKinsey Lagos.

The Director, International Office and Linkages, Covenant University, Dr. Isaac Akinwumi, inaugurated the session with inspiring remarks. He highlighted the unique opportunity afforded to final-year and penultimate students participating in the programme. He also emphasized the potential career impact of the Young Leaders Programme, urging students to fully leverage the opportunity, and praised the high calibre of Covenant University graduates, noting their significant contributions across various industries.

Olusegun Osoneye outlined the purpose of McKinsey’s visit, which aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities at McKinsey, the firm's operations, and the potential achievements awaiting new team members. He expressed enthusiasm for welcoming Covenant University students into the McKinsey family.

Each McKinsey team member shared their personal journeys, detailing their paths to the firm and their experiences since joining. The Covenant University alumni expressed gratitude to their alma mater for providing a solid academic and spiritual foundation, as well as valuable exposure to industry interactions and competitions.

The session highlighted the benefits of the Young Leaders Programme for Covenant University graduates, including professional development experience for the young inductees as well as opportunities for gaining diverse experience and career advancement for them if picked up by the company. They are also assured of good networking Opportunities and a supportive work environment too.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Akinwumi expressed his gratitude to the Covenant University alumni for paving the way for such opportunities and making the university proud. He thanked the McKinsey team and the Covenant University management for their support. Dr. Akinwumi encouraged students to reflect on the knowledge gained and apply it to their future careers.
