The Covenant University Enactus team recently visited the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, to present two awards, the first was for coming third place at the Access Coronation Trust Fund (ACT Fund) competition, and the second was a Semi-Finalist Award from last year’s Enactus Nationals.
During the visit, Umurie Stephen Nsikak, a fifth-year student in Mechanical Engineering, stated that Enactus Covenant University had recently celebrated receiving two awards. The awards came a year after thoroughly evaluating, judging, and analyzing the impact of the submitted products and projects. This process typically takes a year, with the awards announced on July 23, 2024, at the Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos. He also mentioned that they received funding from the Poly-Allyl-Diglycol Carbonate (PADC).
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the Enactus leadership team, including Dr. Dania O. Elizabeth, Biochemistry Faculty Adviser, and Dr. Emmanuel O. Efe-Imafidon, Business Management Faculty Adviser, as well as the student leadership: Umurie Stephen Nsikak (fifth-year Mechanical Engineering), Ovwigho Great Oghenekaro (third-year Business Administration), Emmanuel Benson (fifth-year Electrical Electronics), Isaac Ochigbo (fifth-year Computer Engineering), and Tirenioluwa Owogboga Odey (fifth-year Electrical Electronics). He advised them to engage more in sustainable development projects and valuable initiatives, assuring them of the management's support. He emphasized that their initiatives should be practical, highly sustainable, socially friendly, and beneficial to humanity, and urged them to be more productive by partnering with companies to enhance their efforts.
Dr. Emmanuel O. Efe-Imafidon, Business Management Faculty Adviser, expressed appreciation for the management's support and for providing all the necessary resources. He promised that the next award would surpass the current achievements and thanked the Vice-Chancellor for taking the time to meet with them. Dr. Dania also thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his time and pledged to improve before the next award presentation.
Nitroeoth is the product that received the award. It is an organic fertilizer produced from livestock blood, similar to Petcily. This is another Enactus initiative aimed at addressing environmental and climate issues while promoting sustainable communities.
