Covenant University continues to distinguish herself through the exemplary achievements of her students, as shown during the University’s Chapel Service on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, when Mr. Anthony Ibe-Egechi, a 500-level student from the Department of Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), was recognised by the Vice-Chancellor for his outstanding performance during his six-month Industrial Training (IT), with Finance Application Systems Limited (FASYL).

His remarkable performance during his Internship was publicly recognized by the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, following a formal commendation letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, by the Director, Business Consulting Group at FASYL, Mr. Uchechukwu Opara, where he praised Anthony for his exemplary character, dedication, and professionalism throughout his time with the company.

“From the moment Anthony joined our unit, it was clear that he possessed an admirable blend of good character, commitment, and dedication,” Mr. Opara wrote. "He became an integral part of our team, undertaking a wide variety of tasks ranging from software development to database installation, SQL statement writing, and gaining an understanding of core banking applications."

“What truly set Anthony apart was his refusal to remain on the sidelines,” Mr. Opara emphasized. “He displayed an eagerness to engage deeply in the tasks assigned to him and was proactive in seeking out the assistance he needed. His positive attitude and strong work ethic became benchmarks for other interns and new recruits.”

Anthony’s willingness to go beyond the assigned tasks and take initiative earned him high praise. The high standards Anthony demonstrated during his IT program have set a new bar for future interns; with the company extending an open invitation for him to return for future engagements. “Given his performance, we would be delighted to have him as part of our team again,” Mr. Opara stated, expressing the company’s appreciation for Anthony’s outstanding contributions.

Reacting to the commendation letter, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo, pointed out that Anthony’s success reflects the high standards Covenant University students are known for in the corporate world. He emphasized that such recognition shows the importance of the University’s commitment to practical training, which prepares students to excel in real-world challenges.

Mr. Ibe-Egechi shared that his IT experience was transformative, allowing him to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on application while developing essential industry skills. “My time at FASYL Technology Group helped me apply the skills and knowledge I gained in the classroom to real-world situations, and I am grateful for the opportunity.”

The recognition of Anthony Ibe-Egechi's performance reinforces Covenant University’s mission to produce graduates who exemplify leadership, professionalism, and academic excellence.
