Representatives from the National Universities Commission (NUC), led by Professor Rafiu Adesina Ganiyu, on an accreditation visit to Covenant University, for the assessment of its Computer Engineering programme, has commended Covenant University, for her exceptional dedication and commitment to academic excellence.
While speaking on the mission of their exercise, Professor Ganiyu, stated that their visit was to assess what facilities were on ground and to thoroughly look at the academic and research resources available in the Department and determine their functionality and adequacy to support and enhance the educational experience of the students.
In his welcome remarks, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, emphasized on Covenant University's unwavering commitment to excellence in education. "Our desire as a university is to always stand out in everything we do, particularly in delivering excellence in all areas of our operations. We believe there is no end to excellence. What you call success today can be a failure tomorrow without continuous improvement. We are happy the NUC is here to help us achieve our goals and keep us on our toes," he stated
Drawing from his experience while visiting other institutions for assessments, Professor Adebayo emphasized the importance of collaboration and learning among universities. He recounted an inspiring visit to an Eastern university where students' projects were converted into books, highlighting the innovative ways institutions can impact education.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated Covenant University's readiness to learn, relearn, and unlearn, to stay ahead in its pursuit of raising a new generation of leaders. He also commended the NUC for its efforts to sustain the value of education across Nigeria.
The accreditation visit marks another milestone in Covenant University's journey towards maintaining its position as a leader in higher education and ensuring the quality of its programs aligns with global standards.
The NUC accreditation team included other distinguished academics like, Professor Adewole Adedokun, from Ahmadu Bello University, and Professor Bashir I. Isah, who represented the Acting Executive Secretary of the NUC, Mr. Chris Maiyaki.
Others at the meeting include the Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David; Prof. Adetu; Prof. Adubuhari; the Head of Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Isaac Samuel; the Dean of Engineering, Prof. Oluseyi Ajayi; outgoing Dean, Prof. Olukoni; the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Amaho; and the Director of Financial Services.
