A call for partnership with a focus on addressing and tackling the impact of climate change as it relates to water security in the continent has gone forth from a researcher. Professor Julius Ndambuki, a Professor of Civil Engineering from Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa, made the call during a courtesy visit to the management of Covenant University.

The Chancellor of Covenant University, Dr. David O. Oyedepo, has charged the postgraduate students of the institution to make the most of their degrees after graduation.
While addressing the students on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the African Leadership Development Centre (ALDC) of the University, Dr. Oyedepo, stated that a degree only retains its potency for five years, after which it loses its relevance, if nothing is added to it. He added that a first degree confers on you, literacy, a second degree unlocks your creativity, while a doctorate degree equips you to create solutions and disciplines.
The Chancellor stated that the universities, which were largely created by the colonial masters, were built just to raise workers and now society is faced with the challenge of raising leaders; unfortunately using the same ancient curriculum to try to achieve new goals.
He posited that universities should not just exist to teach and graduate students, but rather to provide a platform for rigorous intellectual discourse that aims at providing solutions to the bugging issues in society.
Speaking on the economy, he enlightened the postgraduate students on the fact that education is the platform for producing economic pilots and economic drivers to achieve sustainable economic growth. Generally, he said, education is a platform for empowering man's Intellect to think solutions, while University education is all about empowering Man to create solutions to the challenges besetting humanity.
He concluded by stating that the Knowledge market is the free market zone of life, with space for every knowledge product. “It doesn't have to be white to be right; it is high time we in this part of the world joined the leagues of those that create knowledge. Knowledge is the new currency of the world," he stressed.
Others at the event include the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo; the Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David; the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Akan Williams; the Dean, Students Affairs, Mrs. Olushola Coker and other senior officers of the University.
